The Deluxe Touring Package treatsboth the driver and passenger like royalty, giving them asculpted two-up seat with a generous storage area in the rear ofthe seat; contoured single-lever 'infinitelyadjustable' backrest; independently controlled driver andpassenger handwarmers (except Trail Touring); wind deflectors forthe passenger handgrips (except Trail Touring); and extra-widefootrests for the passenger. A new feature is the high visibilitybackrest taillight on the Classic Touring, XLT Touring, and UltraTouring.

lndy Lite Touring

Entry level touring riders will betreated to an unmatched ride on the lndy Lite Touring. Polarisre-engineered the popular XTRA-Lite rear suspension to accept a long track, sothe Lite Touring uses this fine suspension with a 133.5-inchLightning track. The rear suspension delivers an astonishing12.25 inches of travel, while the IFS front end provides 7 inchesof travel. Passengers on the lndy Lite Touring will enjoy thefine ride of the XTRA-Lite suspension, and they'll appreciate thecomfort of the two-up seat and backrest.

Power for this popular touringmodel comes from a 339cc fan-cooled engine with twin 30mmcarburetors and CD ignition. A mechanical disc brakeprovides dependable stopping, and an 8.8-gallon gas tank permitslong-range riding. Other standard features providing comfort andconvenience include handwarmers and a thumbwarmer, a speedometerwith a tripmeter, storage rack, tow hitch, and a front bumper.

lndy Sport Touring

Full-sized touring comfort iscombined with a strong engine and exceptional value in the IndySport Touring. There's power, ample room for two people, and comfort featuresto let two riders enjoy tour riding and long days on the trails.The proven 432cc fan-cooled twin with two 34mm carburetors and CDignition provides the power, while an IFS front suspension with7.25 inches of travel and a torsion bar provides a comfortableride and sure handling. The Sport Touring's XTRA-Lite rearsuspension has 12.25 'inches of travel and the 133.5-inch trackprovides the traction.

Ahigh windshield that deflectswind and snow is standard equipment, as are handwarmers and athumbwarmer for the driver, speedometer (with tripmeter), two-upseat with backrest, hydraulic disc brake, and an 1 1.8-gallon gastank.

lndy Trail Touring

Indy Trail Touring riders will beriding in style since this model now comes with now comes withnearly all the features of the Deluxe Touring Package, including:a new sculpted two-up seat, generous storage area in the rear ofthe seat, contoured single-lever 'infinitelyadjustable' backrest, adjustable passenger hand holds, andoversized foot rest area. (Available as accessory items areheated handgrips and wind deflectors for the passenger.)

The improved-for-'98 comfortfeatures add to the Trail Touring's other standard features, suchas: electric start, reverse, driver handwarmers and thumbwarmer, mirrors,speedometer (with tripmeter) and tachometer, hydraulic discbrake, E-Z Steer ski carbides, halogen headlights, and a11.8-gallon gas tank.

The Trail Touring's dependablepower comes from its 488cc fan-cooled twin with CD ignition and apair of 34mm carburetors. The ride is superb for one or twopeople thanks to the XTRA-1 0 rear suspension with acompressionadjustable lndy Select rear track shock and 8.3 inchesof travel. The XTRA-10 front suspension uses nitrogen cell shocksto provide 9.5 inches of travel, and has a torsion bar tooptimize the ride and handling.

The 133.5-inch Lightning trackdelivers excellent traction, the new bumper provides greaterdurability and improved snowmobility, and an improved P-85 driveclutch ensures maximum efficiency in handling the Trail Touring'spower.

lndy Classic Touring

In the 500 class, this is thesport's ultimate touring model. It serves up a great ride, a fulllist of comfort features, and the remarkable acceleration andpower of this popular Polaris engine. That sporty power comesfrom the 488cc liquidcooled twin. The Classic Touring also has CDignition, two 34mm carburetors, an improved P-85 drive clutch,and a hydraulic disc brake.

Theexceptional ride for one or two riders is provided by the XTRA-12rear suspension with its compression-adjustable lndy Select fronttrack shock and 1 1.6 inches of travel. The front suspension isthe XTRA- 1 2 1 FS with lndy Select shocks, a torsion bar, and 10 inches of mogu I-swal lowing travel. New f or '98 are Polaris'slightweight, durable composite skis.

The Deluxe Touring Packageprovides Classic Touring riders with: mirrors; a sculpted two-upseat with a single-lever infinitely adjustable backrest;individually controlled passenger and driver handwarmers (anddriver thumbwarmer); wind deflectors for the passenger handgrips;and extra-wide footrests for the passenger. In the back of theseat is an extra-large storage compartment, and new for'98 is ahigh-visibility backrest-mounted light.

Indy XLT Touring

XLT might stand for 'XtraLight Triple,' but Indy XLT Touring riders translate it tomean 'XceLlenT,' as in an excellent combination ofluxury, power, and smooth-riding comfort. With XTRA-12 front andrear suspensions, and the famed Polaris 600 triple engine, theIndy XLT Touring makes day-long touring easy.

The ride and handling areexceptional thanks to the XTRA-12 front suspension withadjustable Ryde AFX shocks, a torsion bar, and 1 0 inches oftravel. A compression-adjustable Indy Select front track shockand Ryde AFX rear track shock smooth the ride of the XTRA- 1 2rear suspension with a whopping 1 1.6 inches of travel.

The 597cc liquid-cooledthree-cylinder engine features CD ignition and three 34mmcarburetors, giving tour riders power enough to enjoy a spiritedride on their favorite trails. Also standard are electric start,reverse, mirrors, hydraulic disc brake, electric fuel gauge thatmonitors the 11.8-gallon gas tank, speedometer with tripmeter,and tachometer.

lndy Ultra Touring

It's called the Ultra Touring, butriders call it'lhe Ultimate,' because it's unsurpassed intwo-up touring features, ride, and performance. The Ultra Touringis a high-performance touring model with the plushest ride in thesport and a long list of luxury features.

There's power-on-demand thanks tothe 679cc liquid-cooled case-reedinducted triple with three 38mmcarburetors and digital CD ignition. A new PTO oil line supplies oilto the crankshaft bearings, enhancing its durability andperformance, and the 280-watt alternator improves the output ofthe Ultra Touring's lighting, which is the industry's brightest.

1998 Polaris Indy Trail

The handling is a delight, as isthe ride provided by the XTRA-12 front suspension withPolaris-exclusive compression-adjustable Ryde AFX shocks, atorsion bar, and 10 inches of travel. Inside the 133.5-inchLightning track is the XTRA- 1 2 rear suspension with an IndySelect f ront track shock, a corn pressionadjustable Ryde AFXrear track shock and 1 1.6 inches of travel.

The Ultra Touring's standardfeatures read like a snowmobiler's wish list, and include theDeluxe Touring Package (described below) as well as electricstart, mirrors, speedometer (with tripmeter) and tachometer, aliquid-cooled hydraulic disc brake, 11.8-gallon gas tank,electric fuel gauge, and lightweight. durable Polaris compositeskis.

The Deluxe Touring Package givesUltra Touring riders: a sculpted two-up seat with a sirgle-leverinfinitely adjustable backrest; individually controlled passengerand driver handwarmers (and driver thumbwarmer); wind deflectorsfor the passenger handgrips; and extra-wide footrests for thepassenger. New for '98 is a high-visibility backrest-mountedlight that increases visibility, and behind the seat is a roomystorage compartment, plus a rear cargo carrier.
